About Gwilami

Hello! My name is Guillaume (pronounced Gee-yom), and I am the creative mind behind Gwilami. Originally from Montreal, Canada, I’m fluent in French, English, and Spanish. My journey with crochet began about five years ago during a visit to my sister’s home. She had picked up the craft during her maternity leave and taught me the single crochet stitch. I made a small swatch and thought, “This is cool—I could be good at this!” But it wasn’t until two years later, during the first pandemic lockdown, that I truly embraced crochet.

Equipped with a crochet hook and a skein of yarn, I immersed myself in the craft. Inspired by established designers like Pica Pau and Khuc Cay, I soon began creating my own designs, aiming to bring fresh, unique ideas to the crochet world. This creative journey led to an exciting collaboration with Granny’s Crochet Hook—Kate and Dasha, two talented sisters from St. Petersburg. Our partnership began after the release of Lula & Her Amigurumi Friends in 2021. Impressed by their craftsmanship, I reached out to express my admiration, sparking a collaboration that has resulted in over 40 original characters to date.

Kate and I exchange ideas daily, blending our creativity to develop new patterns and stories whenever time allows. What started as a simple message has blossomed into an extraordinary partnership that continues to inspire me.

Our patterns are released as we refine them—thank you for your patience and support. Happy crocheting!
